INCONEL 601 is a nickel chromium iron alloy with an aluminum addition that strengthens its resistance to high-temperature oxidation. It is widely used where repeated heating and cooling challenge the protective surface scale. The alloy is readily fabricated into thermal-processing components and furnace structures. Selection should consider atmosphere, mechanical loading and weld details, since oxidation resistance alone does not determine component life.
