HAYNES 244 is a nickel molybdenum chromium tungsten alloy developed for static components in advanced gas turbines. Aging forms ordered domains that provide strength while retaining low thermal expansion. Tungsten improves domain stability, extending the useful temperature range relative to HAYNES 242. The alloy combines dimensional control, oxidation resistance and fatigue performance for components operating at temperatures up to approximately 760°C.
Chemical composition
| Element | Weight percent | Element | Weight percent |
| Ni | Balance | Mo | 22.5 |
| Cr | 8 | W | 6 |
| Fe | 2 max | Mn | 0.8 max |
| Al | 0.5 max | C | 0.03 max |
Mechanical properties
Plate, 12.7 mm thick, age hardened at 760°C for 16 h, furnace cooled to 649°C for 32 h, then air cooled. RT tensile results before and after thermal exposure.
| Test temperature °C | 0.2% yield MPa | Tensile MPa | Elongation % |
| RT, as treated | 847 | 1333 | 34.7 |
| RT, after 649°C / 1000 h | 847 | 1411 | 25.5 |
| RT, after 760°C / 1000 h | 674 | 1096 | 13.1 |
