NIMONIC 86 is a solid-solution nickel chromium molybdenum alloy with a small cerium addition. It was developed to combine formability, ductility and weldability with high-temperature creep strength and strong cyclic oxidation resistance. Its oxidation performance is particularly relevant near 1050°C. The alloy is primarily used for fabricated sheet components in gas turbines and heat-treatment equipment, where resistance to scaling and reliable fabrication are important.
