6061 Aluminum Bar and Rod

6061 is a versatile heat treatable aluminum magnesium silicon copper alloy commonly supplied as extruded or cold finished bar and rod. It provides a practical balance of strength, corrosion resistance, machinability and weldability. T4 supports forming, while T6 and stress relieved variants are widely used for structural and machined parts. Cold finished T651 and extruded T6511 identify different product routes. Welding lowers local strength, so welded components need appropriate design values rather than the full parent metal strength.
