5005 is a low magnesium wrought aluminum alloy selected for good formability, atmospheric corrosion resistance and decorative anodizing. It is non heat treatable and gains strength through cold working. Soft tempers suit bending and drawing, while harder tempers improve resistance to permanent deformation through increased yield strength. Sheet is commonly used for architectural cladding, signs and appliance panels. Anodizing quality and color consistency should be specified separately because alloy designation alone does not guarantee a uniform decorative finish.
