Grade: Nimonic 901/UNS N09901/W.Nr.2.4662/Incoloy 901

Sheet/Plate: 0.3mm-150mm

Strip/Foil: 0.02mm-16mm

Pipe: 6mm*0.5mm-1200mm*100mm

Bar: Ф6mm – Ф600mm

Wire: Ф0.01mm – Ф6mm

Others: Forged Rings, Flanges, Elbows, Tees, Reducers etc.

Standard: ASTM/ASME/AMS

NIMONIC 901 is an age-hardenable nickel iron chromium alloy used for highly stressed turbine components. Molybdenum strengthens the matrix, and titanium with aluminum supports precipitation hardening. The alloy offers a useful balance of strength, creep resistance and forging capability. Discs and shafts are established applications, with performance depending on the specified solution, stabilization and aging treatments.

Chemical composition

Element Weight percent Element Weight percent
Ni 42.5 nominal Cr 12.5 nominal
Mo 5.75 nominal Ti 2.9 nominal
Fe Balance Co 1.0 max
Cu 0.5 max Mn 0.5 max
Si 0.4 max Al 0.35 max
C 0.10 max S 0.03 max

Mechanical properties

Typical 1,000-hour rupture strength, precipitation-hardened condition; Special Metals handbook, printed page 31. Product form and precise aging cycle are not stated for this summary table.

Test temperature °C 1,000 h rupture strength MPa
540 800
595 600
650 450
705 300
760 200

Rupture stresses are not tensile acceptance values. The bulletin gives tensile curves rather than a numerical table. Typical forged-bar treatment is 3 h at 1090°C / water quench + 4 h at 775°C / air cool + 24 h at 705–720°C / air cool.

Application areas

  • Gas turbine discs and shafts
  • Turbine rings, casings and seals
