5052 is a non heat treatable aluminum magnesium chromium alloy with a useful combination of strength, fatigue performance and formability. It resists marine atmospheres well and is readily welded. Annealed material is suitable for demanding forming, while stabilized H32 and H34 sheet are widely used for fabricated components. Cold work increases strength but reduces ductility, and welding can soften hardened material locally. Typical applications include marine sheet structures, tanks, equipment housings and transportation components.
